What is the Luxe Peel?

The Luxe Peel is a powerful chemical peel made with croton oil, specifically formulated to treat deep wrinkles, sun damage, and those stubborn skin issues that just don’t respond to other peels or lasers.

Also called a modified phenol peel, this treatment goes way beyond surface exfoliation—it triggers deeper cellular changes that can make you look noticeably younger.

How does the Luxe Peel work?

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill peel. It works by penetrating deep into the skin and exfoliating from within. It also activates stem cells in your sebaceous epidermal units (basically, your tiny facial hair follicles), helping your skin regenerate from the inside out.

The #1 chemical peel for aging eyes, fine lines, and sun damage

What does the Luxe Peel treat?

Some key benefits the Luxe Peel offers the eyes include:

  • Smoother, brighter skin
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightening of both upper and lower eyelids
  • More even skin tone
  • Long-lasting, dramatic results

If you’re dealing with deep wrinkles, etched lines, sun damage, acne scars, or even pre-cancerous spots across your face, we also offer the full-face Luxe Peel, which is done by our doctors at our surgery center.

While we offer full-face croton oil peels at our surgery center, here at MD Beauty Lab our focus is on the delicate eyelid area, where it’s both safe and effective to do the Luxe Peel to treat the thin, sensitive skin around the eyes.

What happens during a Luxe Peel treatment?

To keep you comfortable throughout the treatment, we do the Luxe Peel for the eyes in our procedure suite with the help of ProNox (nitrous oxide). Oral sedation is also available, though most patients find they don’t need it. From start to finish, the treatment takes about an hour.

We start by cleaning the area with acetone, followed by a phenol application, which numbs the skin so the croton oil part is totally tolerable. The peel is fully customized depending on what we’re targeting and the degree of your concerns.

As it’s applied, you’ll feel a mild burning sensation that fades quickly, usually within 11 seconds. Lower lids, upper lids, done. Then we apply croton oil in carefully chosen strengths to make the most of your results.

Once we get the right tissue response, we apply a cooling bismuth mask. It feels amazing—cool and soothing as it sets into a firm, protective barrier. You’ll wear it home and leave it on, untouched, for seven days. It’s comfortable and you can still blink and go about your day. Just keep it dry!

How do I prepare for a Luxe Peel?

We recommend starting a medical-grade skincare routine 4-6 weeks ahead of your treatment to help prevent side effects like hyperpigmentation, prolonged swelling, and uneven healing. Sun protection is also key, so avoid direct sun exposure in the weeks before your peel.

If you're on certain medications that increase UV sensitivity, we may recommend adjusting those beforehand.

When will I see results?

You’ll notice a difference when the mask comes off, but the real transformation happens over the next few months as your skin continues to regenerate.

There’s no peeling or sloughing like you get with other treatments. The skin is already renewed underneath. We’ve seen deep etched lines completely disappear—results that would normally require fully ablative CO2 resurfacing (and months of redness) to achieve.

How long do Luxe Peel results last?

With proper skin care and sun protection, the results from a croton oil peel can last for years. Chemically peeled skin doesn’t age in the same way untreated skin does, which is why many people only ever need to do this peel once.

Am I a candidate for the Luxe Peel?

You’re likely a great candidate for a croton oil eyelid peel if you have:

  • Crepey skin on the eyelids
  • Skin texture concerns
  • Redundant or excess upper eyelid skin
  • Crow’s feet or etched-in lines

The only thing that might make you a better fit for eyelid surgery instead is puffiness from fat pads in the eyelids. If fat is the issue, the peel won’t address that, but we’ll help you figure out what’s best.

Is there any downtime required after a Luxe Peel?

Because the eyelid skin is thin, it heals faster than most areas:

Week 1

The mask stays on. No touching or getting it wet! On Day 7, you’ll return to the office where we’ll apply a HydraGel that rehydrates the mask. You’ll rinse it off in the shower the next morning (Day 8). During that first week, you’ll use specific ointments and creams we provide to support healing.

Week 2

Redness and swelling improve as you use healing products. By Day 14, you’ll be back to your regular skincare routine, with an upgraded eyelid-specific sunscreen we’ll give you to protect your fresh, new skin.

Week 3

Most people look great and can use light makeup if desired.

Is it safe?

As with any deep peel, there are some risks, especially if you have very thin or deeply pigmented skin. But we’ll assess all of that during your consultation and put together a plan to minimize any complications.
